How Credits Work

Credits are how Truelist bills for verifications. When starting out, your account contains 100 credits. If you have a larger list you’d like to verify, you must purchase credits to validate the list.

When credits are used

A credit is used when:

  • a verification is performed on an email address, and it was possible to determine if the address exists or not.
  • a verification was performed on an existing email address in your account, but that address has not been verified in the past 30 days.

When credits are not used

Truelist does not bill a credit for a verification in all circumstances. Circumstances where a credit is not used:

  • When it is not possible to determine the status of a particular email address (and it gets an unknown status. This is generally seen when validating against mail servers that implement greylisting.
  • If your account has seen that particular email address before, and it has been verified within your revalidation setting (default is 60 days).
  • If there are duplicate email entries on the list you are verifying.
